10 Questions about Dahlia's Pour House with Andrea Dahlia

1. Tell us about Dahlia's Pour House.

Dahlia's Pour House just opened a little over a month ago (July 2012) and has up to 85 draft beers, along with a wide selection of bottled beers. We also feature 14 different Florida breweries! We offer flights and beer mixes for those who want to just try a little of many different beers, or if they want some chocolate or strawberry added to their beer.

Dahlia's Pour House - Beer Battleship

For entertainment, we have two pool tables, a ping pong table, two steel tip dart boards, beer battleship (aka, beer-tle ship or battle hops), a foosball table, and a juke box! On Thursday night we have trivia, by Trivia Nation, from 6:30pm-8:30. They do a good mix of trivia questions (including beer of course). Check their website beforehand for a free answer.

We have Happy Hour specials Monday-Friday and will have game day specials also. We have TVs around the entire wrap-around bar and two projectors. Almost every beer we serve can also be served as a pitcher - and pitchers are $2 off during Friday Happy Hour.

2. What makes Dahlia's special?

Dahlia's is, as I hear many customers explain to us, that "Hole in the wall bar" - but neat and clean. We have a really relaxing environment and tons of things to do.  We also have a huge draft wall and support our local breweries!

3. Do you serve food?

Sometimes we will have Pizza from Northstar "The Pizza Bar" (downtown), and almost always have popcorn. There are many good food joints around us. The Garage, literally across the street, has great food and will often deliver. Kickbacks is another great place for food. They're just around the corner and will also deliver.

4. Can you tell us about the artwork on the walls?

Dahlia's Pour House - wall mural

SweetWater Brewing Company came in and did a huge mural above our bathroom to represent their beer. SweetWater sells great beer and we will soon be carrying 4 of their drafts - 2 that are new to the area. It was hand done with mostly paint, and some areas with spray paint.

5. Can you tell us about Pint Night?

Dahlia's Pour House - Pint Night glasses

Pint Night, Pint Night! O-my! This night is better than I could've ever imagined. People love it! Tuesdays at 4pm, we start Pint Night. On pint night, for every pint you buy from the brewery of the night you get to keep a glass! Some nights if we have some unique glassware we trade out two pints for the specialty! You can drink as many beers as you'd like and take home as many as you want (just please don't drink and drive). We give away a total of 125 pint glasses each Pint Night and keep the crowd going all night long! We try to do 6 different drafts and get different styles of glassware from the same brewery to help grow one's collection. Some nights we may just have one brew on, but it is always a great brew!

6. How will Dahlia's compare to Northstar "The Pizza Bar"?

Dahlia's and Northstar complement each other very well. We both have 2 pool tables, 2 steel tip darts, beer battleship (aka, beer-tle ship or battle hops). Dahlia's has more draft beers, as of now, but Northstar has a lot more bottles, cans and also carries a full bar and food. Northstar houses comedy shows Friday and Saturday nights and is great for large parties and events since it is a bigger establishment. Both places are very similar and very different. Most of our staff are trained at both locations so they are well diversified and knowledgable.

7. Can you tell us a little about your background?

I was actually a 6th grade teacher for 5 years and started working at Northstar for some extra money and to meet new people. I then became a co-owner of Northstar, helping expand the beer wall and adding in liquor. Then Kris and I worked hard to also open Dahlia's, as strictly a beer bar, because who doesn't love a great craft beer?

8. What made you decide to open Dahlia's?

The atmosphere that beer drinkers create is always amazing. We love the support from the breweries and from our customers. We also love supporting local breweries, so we decided to open Dahlia's as a focus on Florida and GA brews, and expand from there.
