1. What makes Blaze Pizza special?
Unlike traditional pizza chains, Blaze features an interactive assembly-line format that allows guests to create their own artisanal pizzas, choosing as many toppings as they like from a wide selection of house made sauces, fresh vegetables and hand-selected meats and cheeses – all for under $8. The 11-inch pizzas are then sent to the blazing hot oven – the centerpiece of the restaurant - where dedicated pizzasmiths ensure that the thin-crust pies are “fast-fire’d” and ready to eat in just 180 seconds.
We also make our own dough from scratch using a recipe developed by critically-acclaimed Executive Chef Brad Kent (“The Pizza Whisperer”), which requires a 24-hour fermentation period to produce his signature light-as-air, crisp crust.
2. Are all your pizzas individual sized pies?
Yes, Blaze only serves 11-inch, personal pizzas. This allows guests to create their own pizzas, or pick from one of 8 signature pizzas Blaze offers (which you can also modify). Guests rave about this option, especially those with small kids that only want cheese or pepperoni. This allows adults to get veggies and kids to get simple pies. Everyone wins!
3. Can you tell us about your topping selection?
Blaze offers a wide selection of house-made sauces, fresh vegetables and hand-selected meats and cheese. Toppings range from classics such as pepperoni, sausage, and green peppers to inventive, including goat cheese, kalamata olives, and arugula.
4. What sort of artisanal toppings do you have?
Lots! We have goat cheese, gorgonzola cheese, ovalini mozzarella, roasted garlic, zucchini, kalamata olives, basil pesto, artichokes, arugula, turkey meatballs, sea salt, and our own spicy red sauce.
5. How many toppings come with a standard pizza?
As many as you want for build-your-own, which costs just $7.95. Our in-house made gluten free crust and our Daiya vegan cheese do cost a little extra. If you or your kids want a simple pie – just cheese - it’s only $5.
6. What’s your most popular pizza?
The build-your-own is the most popular. However, of our signature pizzas, the most popular is Red Vine, which is similar to a Margarita pizza with ovalini mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil and an olive oil drizzle.
7. Can you tell us about your salads?
We have 6 different salads. 4 of them are side salads - Tomato, Basil and Ovalini; Roasted Veggie and Gorgonzola; Beet and Goat Cheese; Classic Caesar and 2 are entrée salads - Chicken Caesar and Antipasto salad.

No, not yet.
9. What’s the most popular salad?
Tomato, Basil and Ovalini, although the Beet and Goat Cheese Salad is pretty popular too.
10. Why only one dessert?
Our number one focus is on what we do best - pizza! But we also wanted to have one great dessert, which is why we feature the S’mores Pie. Our S’mores Pie is similar to a classic s’mores with chocolate squares and marshmallows sandwiched between two graham cracker cookies. We toast our pies over an open flame, so they are warm, gooey and fresh out of the oven when served.
11. Do you serve beer and wine?
Yes! The Jacksonville location carries a selection of single-serve wines and beers.
12. What 's the ambiance at Blaze Pizza?
The restaurant boasts an industrial-inspired atmosphere with bold orange and red accents - an ode to the centerpiece of the restaurant - our open-flame oven. It also features a large black and white mural on the wall that says “Nonconformist, Keep up the good work” which captures our commitment to individuality and customization. We also have an outdoor patio that seats 16.
13. Who's the audience for Blaze Pizza?
We’re a fast casual restaurant - you order up front and we bring your meal to you. The value and quickness of the concept is one that is attractive to just about anyone – professionals looking for a quick lunch or families needing variety. However the concept was created with millennials in mind, offering them a place to create, connect and enjoy pizza at a price that won’t break their budget.
14. Can you tell us about the background to Blaze Pizza?
The first Blaze Pizza restaurant opened on Aug. 6, 2012, in Irvine, CA and quickly gained attention for its chef-driven recipes and “build-your-own pizza” assembly-line format. The concept was started by Rick and Elise Wetzel of Wetzel’s Pretzels. In a rush one day and craving pizza, they found themselves at a build-your-own burrito place and thought – "why isn’t there a pizza option like this?" Then, faster than you can fold a burrito, the concept for Blaze was born. The company currently operates 67 restaurants in 18 states and the District of Columbia, including the major metropolitan areas of Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and Washington D.C. The concept is backed by investors including LeBron James, Maria Shriver, Boston Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner and movie producer John Davis.
